Poetry
Painted Sky
Birds soar across an abstract sky
Canvas stretches and pigments mix
Every flight a one-time scene
Sweet symmetry
Balances lull
With finality and purpose
Birds soar across a painted sky
Challenge a rigidity of ego
Paint never quite wet never quite dry
Time clarifies each gaze
Birds glide across shifting clouds
Canvas stretches and pigments mix
Light melds the pinks and lavenders
A Way In
Whistling wind and rain
Slaps the windows
For hours
Dreams engage with nature
For just minutes
Sounds crescendo towards
Thin patter
And push impressions
Clearer for hours
Ebb and Flow
The sea is a force full with contrasts
With the roars and spits of an animal
it also exacts a stillness
Whether just shallow waters that tirelessly cradle the shore
Or a direct collusion with the moon
The sea holds its peculiar calm
Helping both those within and those on the sidelines
with their rhythms
Dolphins parade at no set time
Baby birds strut with one leg bent
And people that feast on answers
float lightly in their own currents
Gaining courage from the sea’s consistent variability

Rachel - almost three - sports special sass carried from generations of girls before her and with her independence fiercely on display she flaunts an inspirational invitation for a joyful life.
Noah - almost one - laughs a sunny poetry with his velvety sparkling blue eyes that compliment his ear to ear smile which just happens to be all wrapped together into a magical serenity potion.
January 2021
Rain soddened the earth
under swaying trees
and birds trilled a mournful dirge.
Nature took a punch
The year was sobering
or was it awakening?
Snowflakes will sparkle in the sun
on unbreakable boughs
and come spring, birds will chant sweetly.
Nature has our back
The New Year is grand
and hopeful days await.
